I love the fall. I always have. There is something about the slow down after a long busy summer that seems to speak to me. I love the smell of grapes in the air, the multi colored leaves on the ground and the crispness of the breeze. For me, fall is always a time of reflection, I think the early setting of the sun, gives is all more time to spend around the dinner table visiting about the day, and the upcoming holiday season.
Tom and I recently spent the day walking around Sauve Island outside of Portland. Visiting pumpkin farms and drinking hot freshly pressed cider… I guess I am an easy date on that front. I love that stuff.. I love seeing the wonder in the children’s eyes as they stroll through the pumpkin patch looking for just the right one.
As we traveled from our side of the state to the other, we were so impressed with how many people were taking the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends… every hiking trail and spot of interest along the roads were full… what better way to spend time?
I have much to be grateful for this season. Kids, additions to the family, health, work that I love, friends that I adore and that make me laugh, and more adventures to come.
I hope that you too take the time to slow down just for a moment, in this season of thanks and tally up all the things that you are grateful for, walk a country road or two and breath in the air around you, feel the cool breeze on your face and practice the art of Giving Thanks.
I have never been to Sauvie Island, but I did have a blogger friend that lived there. It’s supposed to be really beautiful. I’m glad you got a chance to spend some time there 🙂 Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 😉 🙂
p.s. I love photos of vintage trucks. This one is beautiful 🙂
